Wilson’s Creek

A winding road at Wilson's Creek National Battlefield

Battlefield Photos

Before I started making videos, I learned a little bit about photography. Now, I don’t make photos as often as I make videos, but I’m still really interested in photography.

These are a few photos I made one day when I was walking with my parents at Wilson’s Creek National Battlefield. This is an incredible place to visit! It’s the site of the first Civil War battle that was fought west of the Mississippi River. It is a national historic site, and it’s been very well maintained.

The day I took these photos was at the height of the COVID-19 pandemic. I won an award for them in a city contest, which was cool. The theme of that contest was “I Matter Because…,” and this is part of what I wrote about these photos on my entrance form for that contest:

Some things have been hard this year because of COVID. Learning that I’m good at photography has helped me remember that I’m good at things and can make things that people like. It definitely makes me feel like I matter. So do days like this one, when I went on a hike with my family and everything was golden and beautiful.
